$50,000 of Fresh Produce Donated to Flood Victims

The floods in Northern Tasmania, the closure of the Devonport Port and non-sailing of TT line (The Spirit of Tasmania) has meant that Houston’s has been unable to transport over 3000 cartons of salad  out of Tasmania to mainland customers.

So rather than sell off the produce cheaply or have it go to waste, Houston’s decided to donate these cartons of  salad to help some of the many Tasmanian’s affected by the floods.

Both Foodbank and SecondBite, who distribute excess food to community groups were very happy to collect the cartons, saying that there is a great need for fresh food in the community, both for those affected by the floods and for the homeless over winter.

And we’re happy that all this wonderful fresh produce won’t go to waste!
